About George Wyllie

A renowned Scottish sculptor and conceptual artist, George Wyllie (1921–2012) was known for his playful yet profound explorations of art, politics, and philosophy. His work, often infused with an element of satire, questioned authority and traditional artistic conventions. His most iconic pieces, such as The Straw Locomotive and The Paper Boat, challenged perceptions of impermanence, industry, and Scotland’s cultural identity. A Wee Multitude of Questions continues his legacy, inviting audiences to reflect on the power of art as a form of inquiry and provocation.
